1. MoU signed for wider market access for GI products (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: ५ ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी, नवी दिल्लीतील ‘वाणिज्य भवन’ येथे सूक्ष्म, लघु आणि मध्यम उद्योग मंत्रालय (MSME) आणि उद्योग आणि अंतर्गत व्यापार प्रोत्साहन विभाग (DPIIT) यांच्यात भौगोलिक मानांकन (GI) प्राप्त उत्पादनांना बाजारपेठेत अधिक व्यापक प्रवेश मिळवून देण्यासाठी एका सामंजस्य करारावर (MoU) स्वाक्षरी करण्यात आली. हा करार MSME च्या उद्योग-सहाय्य प्रणालींना ‘वस्तूंचे भौगोलिक मानांकन (नोंदणी आणि संरक्षण) कायदा, १९९९’ अंतर्गत DPIIT च्या कायदेशीर व प्रशासकीय चौकटीशी जोडतो.
• English: On 5 August 2026, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding for wider market access for Geographical Indication products at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. The MoU connects the MSME Ministry’s enterprise support systems with the legal and administrative framework of DPIIT under the Geographical Indications of Goods Act, 1999.

2. J&K Govt sanctions Rs 10 crore for Rattan Garh Fort (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: जम्मू आणि काश्मीर सरकारने ९ ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी डोडा जिल्ह्यातील भदरवाह येथील ‘रतन गड’ किल्ल्याच्या दुरुस्ती, नूतनीकरण आणि संवर्धनासाठी १० कोटी रुपयांना मंजुरी दिली. या प्रकल्पाचा उद्देश किल्ल्याचे वास्तुशिल्पविषयक वैशिष्ट्य जपणे आणि चिनाब खोऱ्यातील एक वारसा व पर्यटन स्थळ म्हणून त्याचा विकास करणे हा आहे.
• English: The Jammu and Kashmir government on 9 August 2026 sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the repair, renovation and restoration of Rattan Garh Fort in Bhaderwah in Doda district. The project aims to conserve the architectural integrity of the fort and to develop it as a heritage and tourism site in Chenab Valley.

3. 11 Indian Institutions in QS World University Rankings 2027 (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: २०१५ च्या आवृत्तीनंतर, ‘क्यूएस वर्ल्ड युनिव्हर्सिटी रँकिंग्ज २०२७’ मध्ये भारतातील ११ उच्च शिक्षण संस्थांचा समावेश करण्यात आला. १८ जून २०२६ रोजी जाहीर झालेल्या या जागतिक क्रमवारीत भारताचे प्रतिनिधित्व वाढणे हा २०१५ मध्ये सुरू करण्यात आलेल्या ‘नॅशनल इन्स्टिट्यूशनल रँकिंग फ्रेमवर्क’चा (NIRF) परिणाम असल्याचे सरकारने सांगितले.
• English: 11 Indian higher education institutions were included in the QS World University Rankings 2027 in the 2015 edition. The rankings were released on 18 June 2026 and the Indian government said the rise in representation was the outcome of the National Institutional Ranking Framework, which was launched in 2015.

4. VOC Port becomes India’s first Scope-2 Emission-Free Major Port (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: १० ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी, तामिळनाडूतील थुथुकुडी येथील ‘व्ही.ओ. चिदंबरनार पोर्ट ऑथॉरिटी’ हे ‘स्कोप-२ उत्सर्जन-मुक्त’ (Scope-2 Emission-Free) बनणारे भारतातील पहिले प्रमुख बंदर ठरले. याव्यतिरिक्त, आपल्या ऊर्जा व्यवस्थापन प्रणालीसाठी (Energy Management System) ‘ISO 50001:2018’ प्रमाणपत्र मिळवणारे देखील हे भारतातील पहिले बंदर होते.
• English: On August 10, 2026, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, became the first major port in India to become Scope-2 Emission-Free. The port was also the first port in India to get ISO 50001:2018 certification for its Energy Management System.

5. Scientists identify dense ozone layer over North Bay of Bengal (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: शास्त्रज्ञांनी उत्तर बंगालच्या उपसागरावर २१ ते २३ किलोमीटर उंचीवर ओझोनचा एक जाड आणि संहत (concentrated) थर शोधून काढला आहे. १० ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी ‘NetRAD-ASMA’ च्या पहिल्या टप्प्यातील मोहिमेदरम्यान हे निष्कर्ष प्राप्त झाले आणि ते अमेरिकन जिओफिजिकल युनियनच्या ‘अर्थ अँड स्पेस सायन्स’ या नियतकालिकात प्रकाशित करण्यात आले आहेत.
• English: Scientists have identified an ozone layer, thick and concentrated, over the North Bay of Bengal, at an altitude of 21 to 23 kilometers. The result was obtained on 10 August 2026 during the NetRAD-ASMA Phase-I campaign and published in the American Geophysical Union journal Earth and Space Science.

6. NABARD announces winners of Climate Stack Innovation Challenge (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: १० ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी, ‘नाबार्ड’ने (NABARD) ‘नॅशनल क्लायमेट स्टॅक इनोव्हेशन चॅलेंज’च्या अंतिम विजेत्यांची घोषणा केली. ‘डेटा इन क्लायमेट रेझिलिएंट ॲग्रीकल्चर’ (DiCRA) या आराखड्याचा वापर करून ‘बिल अँड मेलिंडा गेट्स फाउंडेशन’ आणि ‘डालबर्ग ॲडव्हायझर्स’ यांच्या भागीदारीत हे आव्हान राबवण्यात आले होते.
• English: On 10 August 2026, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) announced the final winners of the National Climate Stack Innovation Challenge. The challenge was implemented in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Dalberg Advisors, using the Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture (DiCRA) framework.

7. VinSpace signs agreement with SpaceX for satellite launch (Current Affairs 11 August 2026)

• मराठी: ११ ऑगस्ट २०२६ रोजी, व्हिएतनामी एरोस्पेस कंपनी ‘विनस्पेस’ (VinSpace) ने ‘स्पेसएक्स’ (SpaceX) सोबत एक करार केला, ज्याअंतर्गत २०२७ मध्ये त्यांचे पहिले उपग्रह कक्षेत प्रक्षेपित केले जातील. हे प्रक्षेपण स्पेसएक्सच्या ‘ट्रान्सपोर्टर राइडशेअर मिशन’द्वारे केले जाईल, ज्यामध्ये एकाच रॉकेटवरून अनेक पेलोड्स पाठवून खर्च विभागला जातो.
